These are our seniors. Some are still with us, many have passed; but their memories will be forever logged in our hearts.
Here are some special moments frozen in time. Enjoy. 🙂
Misha ... Misha was with me longer than any person or any other pet in my life. She was 24 1/2 years old when she passed. Misha had many human traits and we communicated like friends. She was such a big part of my life - it's strange without her. But oh what a beautiful gift she was. (RIP)
The little white kitty in front is Bailey, napping with Ghirardelli. Bailey lived to be 20 years old; we know this because she was surrendered with her birth papers. Bailey was quiet and kept to herself, but loved to sit in my lap and purr while I loved on her. Every now and then she would get tickled and bat a toy around; at 20 years old, that was a big deal! We're very happy to have had her company. (RIP)
Beautiful Zena. This lovely photo was taken by Zena's foster, Lori, shortly before Lori died. Theirs was a true love affair - we wish we had more fosters like Lori. Zena passed almost one year to the day after Lori - we know they're together again, resting in God's love. (RIP)
Gina Lola was that one poor soul that, no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't fix her. She came to us blind; we had surgery done on her eyes and miraculously her vision in one eye returned - but for only 8 months. Then the optic nerve died, and she went blind again, permanently. It was heartbreaking. In the end, her little heart failed and we lost her. But she was loved beyond measure, and we hope that made up even a little for all that she suffered healthwise. (RIP)
This little darling is April. April's body was pretty broken down when we rescued her. We could only make her comfortable. But she was happy anyway. In spite of the arthritis, she would twirl for me as if dancing and giving thanks. She had a happy spirit that shown through. Here she is rocking her new sweater. (RIP)
Pauly. What can I say - he was my joy, my sidekick. A very funny fellow - he figured out that it made me laugh when he farted, so he would come running to me whenever he had to fart to be sure I didn't miss it. Now that's love! My little shadow - I miss you Pauly. (RIP)
Minnie Mouse was a little dollbaby. She had many health issues, but her guardians Moses and Irene loved her dearly and saw her value as a living creature. They cared for her with true dedication and tenderness. It was a beautiful relationship. (RIP)
Meet Mona Lisa. She was an "Animal Cops" rescue. Rescuers found her next to her elderly owner's body after he had passed away days before. She was in poor health and needed lots of TLC. Happily she healed up beautifully and was a wonderful addition to our pet family. Mona Lisa gave us many happy years full of love and laughs. (RIP)
This little diva is Journey. Journey was found wandering alone in the desert near Victorville California where someone had apparently dumped her. The Victorville shelter called Milagro and we took her in. Journey knew she was special and very important; she ran the house and no one questioned it. Little package with a big attitude - sure left a big hole in the family when she passed. (RIP)
Isaiah came to Milagro only a few days before he passed. We had hoped he could stay with us longer and enjoy his twilight years, but it wasn't meant to be. Happily, those few days were full of love and he left here knowing that his life mattered. (RIP)
Ruby was a darling little girl, completely devoted to her guardian, and just really happy to be with us at Milagro. The seniors seem to know when they've been given a new life, and it shows. Such a gift. (RIP)
Mufasa is a big beautiful boy with a heart so innocent and pure it sparkles. Like Madrigal, Mufasa resembles a Down Syndrome child. He knows no fear, only sweet joy. Mufasa loves everyone no matter who they are, and everyone loves Mufasa. He is always front and center to welcome guests into our home.
This regal fellow is Manasseh and his guardian. Can you tell what a perfect match they are? Beautiful photo of a beautiful pair.
This is little Mandi and her guardian. It was love at first sight for both of them. He gave Mandi a safe and loving home, and Mandi gave him a reason to live longer. One of Milagro's sweetest love stories. (RIP)
This is Frankie and his foster. Even tho Frankie's eye were diseased and had to be removed, it didn't slow him down at all. He stayed happy and could still find his tennis ball anywhere! (RIP)
Princess is a beautiful lilac-point Siamese. Very gentle and soft-spoken. In fact, she doesn't meow - she squeaks like a mouse. Beautiful sweet kitty. :)
Sonnie was a big goofy lovebug. Life was a picnic and he enjoyed every minute of it. (RIP)
Chiffon was such a love. She was over-the-moon in love with her goldfish Sunny. She would float her whiskers on the water and Sunny would nibble at them. (RIP)
Jordan was like the sweet loving mother in the house. She had a very gentle and soothing presence that helped all the other seniors to relax and feel safe. Here she is lounging with Genesis. (RIP)
Itty Bitty Bon Jovi is just chillin' here between his big buds, Koki and ____. (RIP)
Genesis and Sammie always piled on top of each other to snuggle and nap (RIP).
Madrigal was one in a million. A pure, sweet spirit who reminded me of a Downs Syndrome child - he lived in his own little world, and it was a beautiful place. They just don't come any better than "Maddie-Magoo." (RIP)
Holly's favorite thing was riding in the car to the McDonald's drive-thru for a hamburger! You can see the pure joy in her face as she anticipates the outing. (RIP)
Melody lived much of her life in a home where children abused her. She was so grateful for a safe and peaceful home finally, where she could come out of hiding and enjoy life again. Such a sweet soul. (RIP).
Tyler is front and center to host his family's Halloween parties every year. He really gets into the part! :)
Mia Bella is a "pariah" kitty - afraid of everything. She's made great progress here at Milagro and now ventures out to explore and enjoy her surroundings and has even made great friends with some of the other seniors.
Little Ben was a sweet sweet boy. I had hoped we'd have many years together. Sadly, his heart failed him suddenly only a few months after joining Milagro. But those few months were joyful - he made fast friends with the other seniors, and loved their playtime in the yard. He also thought it was great fun to stand in his food dish and dance. (RIP)
Riley had a rough go of it. When Milagro rescued him, he had pretty bad arthritis in his hips; so walking, and getting up and down was tough. But he persevered and just happy to have his own home and family to love him and keep him safe. He was a very precious boy. (RIP)
Boshi was known to all of our friends as "Mr. Hollywood." He had a big personality and everyone loved him. True to his nature, here he is hamming it up for the camera! (RIP)
Big Otis was a big lovable teddybear. Sadly, Otis found himself abandoned and homeless after he protected his owner's child from an abusive boyfriend. But Milagro happily took this champion in, and his guardians treated him with all the love and respect he so rightfully deserved. (RIP)
Genesis was the soul of Milagro, our first rescue dog. Genesis welcomed every rescue pet that came after her. Once they met Genesis, they knew they were safe and sound. (RIP)
Sweet little Chloe was a very quiet, serene little girl. She loved to watch butterflies in her back yard (RIP).
